Ingredients

For the Salmon
  • 4 6-ounce salmon fillets skin-on recommended
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For the Herb Topping
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Equipment

  • Cedar plank
  • Grill

Method

  1. Soak the cedar plank in water for at least 1 hour. This prevents it from burning on the grill.
  2. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (about 400-450°F or 200-230°C).
  3. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush them with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a small bowl, combine the chopped dill, parsley, chives, minced garlic, and lemon juice. Mix well.
  5. Place the seasoned salmon fillets, skin-side down, on the soaked cedar plank.
  6. Spoon the herb mixture evenly over the top of each salmon fillet.
  7. Carefully place the cedar plank with the salmon onto the preheated grill. Close the grill lid.
  8. Grill for 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The cooking time will depend on the thickness of your fillets.
  9. Remove the cedar plank from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

You can substitute other fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary. Ensure your cedar plank is fully submerged during soaking to prevent flare-ups.
