Ingredients

For the Yogurt Base
  • 1 32-ounce container Greek Yogurt plain or flavored, full fat, low fat, or nonfat
For Sweetening Plain Yogurt (Optional)
  • 1/2 cup half and half
  • 3 Tablespoons sugar
Toppings
  • 1 toppings of choice

Equipment

  • Ice cream maker
  • Small saucepan

Method

  1. Prepare your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Set up and turn on the ice cream maker.
  3. Pour the Greek yogurt into the ice cream maker. Let it churn until the yogurt is creamy and cold but not frozen solid, about 8-10 minutes.
  4. If you are using plain, unsweetened Greek yogurt, prepare the sweetener. In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup half and half with 3 Tablespoons sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring often, just until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool for 5 minutes. Whisk this mixture into 1 32-ounce container of Greek yogurt, then pour into the ice cream maker as directed above.
  5. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For a true frozen yogurt consistency, serve it right after it comes out of the ice cream maker. It can be made ahead, but it will become icy and firm if stored in the freezer. Keep in mind that ice cream makers vary, so yours might take more or less time to reach a smooth, creamy texture. If your ice cream maker was stored in a very cold freezer, it might freeze the yogurt faster than the suggested time.
