- Preheat a small skillet over low heat.
- Spread mayonnaise or butter on one side of each bread slice. Place 2 bread slices in the skillet, mayonnaise side down.
- Top the bread with cheese slices and the remaining bread slice, mayonnaise side out.
- Cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes. Flip and cook the other side until golden.
- For an optional crispy cheese crust, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on the outside of the sandwich before removing from heat. Crisp for 1-2 minutes.
