Quick Sausage and Cream Pasta

Ingredients
  

For the Pasta
  • 1 package Pasta
For the Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Onion chopped (optional)
  • 1 pkg Jimmy Dean Regular bulk sausage
  • 6 oz Tomato Paste
  • 1 cup Beef Stock or 1 cup water with paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup Light Cream heavy cream also works
  • Parmesan Cheese grated, optional

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Large skillet

Method
 

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over low heat. Add chopped onion and cook until soft, if using.
  2. Add the sausage meat to the skillet and fry until cooked through. Drain off any excess fat if desired.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and beef stock. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes.
  4. Add the light cream to the sauce and stir until combined. Do not boil after adding cream.
  5. While the sauce simmers, cook the pasta in a pot of salted boiling water according to package directions. Drain the pasta.
  6. Combine the drained pasta with the prepared sauce. Stir well to coat.
  7. Serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

This recipe is a great base for customization. Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or mushrooms, or adjust the creaminess to your preference.
